Give up a false view of yourself

Art by Janessa Wait I saw this image online and thought I'd share it this evening. I love this list. Not because we are taking these things and trying to fix or change ourselves, but because it reminds us of who we already are, to God, Love. We can give up a limited view of ourselves. The reason why it's so natural to give these things up, is because Love is our maker, and Love is what we are at one with. When that fact is known and applied in prayer, any false image of self (or the opposite of Love) falls away. We do this by prayerfully watching our thinking. What we think about is important. That's why Mary Baker Eddy, discoverer and founder of Christian Science, wrote "Stand porter at the door of thought." (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, 392:24) It's always right to give up a limited view of ourselves, and not to allow negative suggestions into thought. Thinking about what to "give up," I think this sums it up beautifully; "Let us accept Science, relinquish all theories based on sense-testimony, give up imperfect models and illusive ideals; and so let us have one God, one Mind, and that one perfect, producing His own models of excellence...Let the “male and female” of God's creating appear."

(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 249:1–5) It is so freeing to give up a false, limited view of ourselves. I invite you to take time to prayerfully consider this with me this week. Have a great evening,

Elaina
